About the Jabal Shams Early Morning tour

Your driver collects you from your hotel at 4:30 am and drives into the Hajar mountains as the day begins. You reach the rim of Wadi Ghul — the “Grand Canyon of Oman” — at about 8 am, while the light is still soft, the air is cool and the viewpoints are quiet.

Take your time at the viewpoints, walk a stretch of the Balcony Walk near Al Nakhr village, and photograph the terraces and old settlements on the cliffs. Then head back down the mountain road and be in Muscat by about 1 pm, before the midday heat, with the rest of the day still ahead.
